  1. This is so cool, they finally did it!
To think that QlikView had this for years…

I still find it close to ridiculous that there is more information about MicroStrategy available on blogs and forums than there is to be bought for a decent price.

  2. Great information for a newbie. Are the video and online tutorials good for starting the learning? Do you know anyone who provides training?

  3. Number of videos are very less. They teach some vital stuff of MicroStrategy. About the online tutorials, they are simply amazing and good enough to do “self-learning”. I have been though few tutorials about the contents etc. Training providers? Where? There are few training institute in Hydrabad who teach MicroStrategy. Do now know the prices or quality of eduction though, but its gotta be good.

  4. @Anonymous: If you download the free license version of MicroStrategy you gain access to the MicroStrategy Tutorial environment and a handful of PDF files such as BasicReporting and AdvancedReporting. This should be enough to get you going for a while.

  5. Ashish, I’m currenty too far from Hyderabad. I was thinking more like web training, somewhat like learnersparadise.com.

    Sorin, Thanks.

I will start with the online tutorials and PDFs.

    Thanks…Som.

  6. I don’t think tough topics in MicroStrategy can be taught via remote desktop/webex kind of thing as trainer would need to monitor trainees and need to correct them while training; else MicroStrategy can not be learnt in class room, else you can always use the PDF manuals and Online tutorials to learn.

Readers, for MicroStrategy education @ Bangalore check out this link.

  7. True.
Unless highly motivated, most students that don’t follow a trainer guided classroom will balk as soon as they reach the metric dimensionality chapter.

I definitely recommend the Online Tutorials over the PDF, but to my knowledge they charge a fortune for those. Has this changed, by any chance?
Purchasing a PEP (Perennial Education Program), allows you to attend all the classroom trainings you can digest during 12 months, additionally gaining you access to the Online Trainings. However, the price for this is also prohibitive if you are on you own…

  8. Yeah, those are the ones I’m talking about. Are they available for free?
I’m only asking because my account had access to them even before this free licensing happened, so I can’t tell if there was a change…

  9. You need to have MicroStrategy account. Use your corporate (non-free) email address to create a one. Then you can access free tutorials. Strage even I had to input my credentials to access them, today. Probably they made this restricted (after reading that here).

  10. Hi All,

I am currently struggling with the logical data model for my project. The relationships that I have created restrict me from fetching correct information. Could someone guide me to the basics of modelling a microstrategy project?

    Sanjay
