How MicroStrategy, Inc. can change positively to MicroStrategy World

The bloggers’ conference hosted by MicroStrategy, Inc was a part of marketing campaign. Staged was opened to ask question by bloggers but was too little time.

My demands from MicroStrategy, Inc (some of them have been said in the older posts) a reason behind that.

  1. Make the evaluation serial valid of 3 months by default. It is open secret that serials are extended twice w/o questions asked, how about making it by default, so that some clients can evaluate MicroStrategy peacefully.
  2. All other BI vendors have a their own Marketplace (tool/utilities market based on BI tool), but MicroStrategy has willfully not done anything for such a Marketplace to come into existence. You charge USD 200 and up for custom tools to be created for MicroStrategy license holders, but fail to understand that non-ready-availability of Server and Web SDK guys hurts your client very much.
  3. Make a SDK specific free license in line with Free MicroStrategy Reporting Suite, so that MicroStrategy Marketplace gets generated in the next 2 years at least. give the SDK license for free, charge a commission from Tool maker having free SDK license. I hope that make sense.
  4. One of things that MicroStrategy did after me criticizing the USD 650 for a certification exams was lowering the fees to USD 250, but that’s still too costly. It should be USD 100, at par with Cognos.
  5. MicroStrategy must tie-up with Prometric or some examination center so that  taking certification exams is easy. Few exams are partly paper based and they should be made online.
  6. By keeping a high cost of certification and eduction, MicroStrategy has entered into low acceptance spiral as
Low number of MicroStrategy experts -> less availability to MicroStrategy customers -> Delayed/less implementation -> Low number of MicroStrategy expert.
But probably, it really doesn’t matter to MicroStrategy as they are happy with consulting fees and are blind to the high revenue that they can generate by availability of good/expert professionals.
  7. companies those who have long term relationship with MicroStrategy have lower support cost but they are pissed off as having implemented MicroStrategy for long, they do not generate support call and still pay for good. How about a “charge for support” type of fees for licensing.
  8. Object Manager MUST be part of MicroStrategy Reporting Suite.
  9. You are trying to break into Indian market, but here you won’t be used for BI at all. Most of my friends who are into BI implementation at different clients are mere making Statutory Reports. BI is greek latin. You holding a BI meet explaining the difference between 8 and 9 was a stupid idea as there were just 1 ( or 2) companies having MicroStrategy.
  10. You NAMED USER license is still complex to understand. Didn’t I get get 100 user license 😳
  11. MicroStrategy is the prime BI implementation for ~80 out of Fortune 100 due to only one reason – scalability. After the recent change in BI market, other BI tool would catch up with you sooner than expected.  No one has patent in scalability, though I’m sure by the time they achieve what you are doing now, you would be much ahead.
  12. Make a Web customization ket. I know it is useless but sells like hot cake.
  13. MicroStrategy must agree that future (of implementation) lies with India. If you are not serious about educating Indian about MicroStrategy, Inc you are a big loser. You started free MicroStrategy CDs in US Universities with lot fanfare but never saw a traction on that.
  14. Make Education videos available as torrents hosted specifically to the MicroStrategy online account users.

  1. So you find merit in 13 out of 14 points listed above. Thaanks a lot about clearing the doubt about the certification fees, it has been an secret of the grade of cost of MicroStrategy License. (five years.. I could not find exam fees from your website)
